We are excited to announce that The Art of Drag drag show will be held Saturday, June 17th, 7 pm to 10 pm in the gallery at 623 N. Chaparral Street. Proceeds from The Art of Drag will support K Space Contemporary and the Coastal Bend Pride Center. By having this event we hope to bring the community together while having a fun night downtown!

 

There is no definitive source to when and where the term ‘drag’ originated from. Many speculate that it evolved from the theater, like during Shakespearean times when men used to play women’s roles because women weren’t allowed to and ‘DRAG’ was written in scripts to indicate that the actor should “dress as a girl.”

 

The Art of Drag will be an exciting night! This event will be featuring 3 fabulous drag performers, amazing music from DJ Crybabyy and DJ JELLOxSHOT, a colorful photo op, drinks, and local vendors selling pride merchandise!
