Members Only is a non-thematic exhibition of new works of art by artist members

of K Space Contemporary. The Best of Show winner will be awarded a solo exhibition

in 2024, and Second and Third Place winners will receive a 2-person show.

ENTRY GUIDELINES

 

Eligibility:  Works previously exhibited at K Space Contemporary are not eligible. Entries must be original works of art completed within the last 2 years. 

​

No Entry Fee: However, artists must be (or become) a member of K Space Contemporary (KSC) to participate. Memberships start at $20 for Students and Seniors aged 65+. Individual Memberships are $35.   Join or Renew Here. If you do not wish to join/renew online, you may call 361-887-6834 to join over the phone with a credit card during open hours or in person at K Space Contemporary when you drop off your work.

 

Number of Works & Format: Each artist may submit 1-2 works. Deliver to K Space Contemporary, 623 N. Chaparral St. by December 30th at 5 pm. Artists may drop off early. Please complete the form at the bottom of this page for each work that you are submitting. (If you are submitting 2 works of art, fill it out twice – once for each work.)

The K Space Exhibition Committee will jury works and curate the exhibition. At least one work by each artist will be exhibited. However, please be aware that one may be excluded if you submit 2. We will email artists individually to pick up excluded works.

​

Media: All visual art media accepted. Artists must be available to install complicated works. Please submit original works of art only - no reproductions like giglee/inkjet prints or copies. Submit a thumb drive for video works; videos will be exhibited on a flatscreen television.

​

Size Limitation: Two-dimensional works must not exceed 60" (5 feet) in either direction.  Three-dimensional works must fit through a 40”x 83” doorway and be manageable by two people. Installations must not exceed 60" (5 feet) in width.

​

Awards: Best of Show winner is awarded a solo exhibition in 2024. Second and Third Place winners receive a 2-person show.

Panel of Judges: established professional artists and art instructors from the Coastal Bend: Jennifer Arnold, Gerald Lopez, Greg Reuter, Day Wheeler, and Vilma Mosier.

 

Sales: All works must be For Sale. KSC collects payment and retains 40% commission. Be sure to INCLUDE GALLERY COMMISSION when pricing your work.

Hand-Deliver or Ship works to K Space Contemporary, 623 N. Chaparral Street, Corpus Christi, Texas 78401 by Friday, Dec. 30th at 5 pm. Please note of our special holiday hours listed above.

 

Framing Requirements: 2-D works must be properly prepared for exhibition with wire securely attached to the back. Works with glazing must use Plexi-glass or equivalent. Only white, off-white or black mats are acceptable. We prefer that drawings and prints be framed for protection; however, we will exhibit works on paper using magnets or clips. Unframed paintings on canvas must be painted around the edges in solid black, white or grey or with continued image. The following are not accepted: wet paint, fragile frames, colored mats, and thick, bulky, decorative frames that are not part of the work of art.

Label: Each work of art must arrive with labeling securely attached to the back of frame or bottom of sculpture. Label must include name, email address, phone number, title, media, date, retail price. Info requested in the form below will be used for the exhibition label.

Promotion & Use of Images: Selecting YES for the PUBLICITY question gives K Space Contemporary permission to use your work(s) of art in publicity - website, social media, and print materials. Artists maintain copyright of all works in the exhibition. Artists are credited in promotional materials whenever possible.

​

Insurance: Works are not insured while on display, however, the gallery is climate controlled and protected by a security system. Our experienced staff and installers take precautions to protect the artwork at all times. We recommend that you insure your work if you so choose.

​

Abandoned Works: Works left at K Space Contemporary 60 days after the last day of the exhibition are considered ABANDONED. Abandoned works become the property of K Space Contemporary and will be disposed of, sold, or given away with no compensation to the artist.
