K Space's Mural Arts Program for Teens was established in 2016 and has since taken off! K Space Contemporary is proud to host a summer mural arts program for teens, the only one of its kind in the Coastal Bend region. This program is designed for teens ages 13 to 17 who want to be more involved in their local art community and are interested in pursuing art in the future.
This year our Summer Camp will be hosted in Downtown Corpus Christ and program participants will be able to attend for free due to the generosity of the Fraizer Foundation. Participants will be selected by juried application and be notified by May 12th of their acceptance into the program.
The deadline for applications is May 1st.
Detailed Camp Information:
Camp begins at 9 am and ends at 3:30 pm. Campers are to be dropped off at 415 D Starr Street and they will then be led to our upstairs studio work area. You may drop off as early as 8:30 but no earlier.
Campers will need to bring a sack lunch and a water bottle each day. K Space will provide a morning/afternoon snack but not a full lunch.
Most of the work for this mural will be done inside of our air-conditioned studio space but there will be one to two designated install days each week. (Usually Thursday and Friday).
During on-site workdays, we will have coolers of water and tents for campers to catch some shade. If needed campers will also be able to cool off inside K Space Contemporary where they will also have access to a bathroom and extra water.
Friday of each week K Space will host a weekly reception to show parents the progress made during the week. These will happen at 3:00 pm every Friday the camp is in session.
Our grand reveal and opening reception for this year's mural will be on August 11th.
