K Space's Mural Arts Program for Teens was established in 2016 and has since taken off! K Space Contemporary is proud to host a summer mural arts program for teens, the only one of its kind in the Coastal Bend region. This program is designed for teens ages 13 to 17 who want to be more involved in their local art community and are interested in pursuing art in the future. Our program is responsible for 24 murals around the Corpus Christi area to date! See some of them here.
This year our Summer Camp will be hosted in Downtown Corpus Christi and program participants will be able to attend for free due to the generosity of our Wigout! donors.
Participants will be selected by juried application and be notified by May 21st of their acceptance into the program.
The deadline for applications is May 20th.
Detailed Camp Information:
Camp begins at 9 am and ends at 3:30 pm. Campers are to be dropped off at 415 D Starr Street and they will then be led to our upstairs studio work area. You may drop off as early as 8:30 but no earlier.
Campers will need to bring a sack lunch and a water bottle each day. K Space will provide a morning/afternoon snack but not a full lunch.
Most of the work for this mural will be done inside of our air-conditioned studio space but there will be one to two designated install days each week. (Usually Thursday and Friday). Our mural location for 2025 will be on the wall of El Camino at 314 N Chaparral St. and at a second location TBD.
During on-site workdays, we will have coolers of water and tents for campers to catch some shade. If needed, campers will also be able to cool off inside the facilities at Water Street Market.
Friday of each week K Space will host a weekly reception inside the studio to show parents the progress made during the week. These will happen at 3:00 pm every Friday the camp is in session.
Our mural dedication for this year's mural will be TBD.
