"Queen of the Rodeo"
Painted by the 2025 Summer Mural Arts Program
This summer, Teens from K Space Mural Arts Camp (ages 13–17) brought South Texas culture to life with a bold new mural "Queen of the Rodeo", featuring a cowgirl riding a bull—an image that captures the fearless spirit of the region and carries the distinctive atmosphere of El Camino beyond its inner walls. Campers participated in painting and installing this large mural over a 3-week period.
The Mural Arts Program was taught by artists Emily Quintanilla and Amera Saenz. 31 youth participated in painting the mural. This is the 28th mural created by K Space Contemporary’s Mural Arts Program.
While searching for mural locations, El Camino owner, Richard Lomax, generously offered the wall on the side of El Camino. K Space felt that this was a perfect space to showcase a large-scale public art project completed by local youth, given the high foot traffic the Water Street Market Complex receives from both residents and visitors. The Summer Mural Arts Program was made possible this year by the generous funding from HEB, El Camino, Bruce and Belinda Edwards of Axis Tattoo, AEP Texas, Sitepro Rentals, Fox Pest Control, and numerous WigOut! donors.
