Philana Oliphant- "Everything is Everything"
May 1- June 25, 2026
Philana Oliphant’s work includes drawings, sculpture, installations and prints. She combines complex, intricate mark-making and paper-cutting with elegant three-dimensional forms to evoke a meditative, physiological response: the rhythmic sound of graphite on Duralar or a blade cutting through Yupo. Her highly detailed, palimpsestic works explore time and memory, as well as environmental change, loss, and repetition.
The artist explains, “I maintain a sense of wholeness by making work. The practice smooths the rough edges of living and celebrates awe. My recent work seeks out the dialogue and communication embedded in nature, rooted in wonder and attention. The imagery I choose and the materials I combine—paper, metal, porcelain, and more—reflect a combination of fragility and resilience. I aim to celebrate the significance of the individual and the whole, to connect and recognize kinship in the belief that every effort counts.”
Her work was recently exhibited at the Longview Museum of fine Arts, Longview Texas, In Her Element, Art Center Waco, Waco Texas and the Delta Triennial, Arkansas Museum of fine Arts, Arkansas among others.
Originally from the Texas panhandle, Oliphant now lives and works in East Texas, where she
shares the forest and a studio with her husband, James Pace and three amazing rescue dogs.
