Josh MacPhee is an artist, designer, curator, author and activist. He has released three books, Stencil Pirates: A Global Survey of Street Stenciling (2004), Realizing the Impossible: Art Against Authority (w/Erik Reuland, 2007) and most recently Reproduce & Revolt (w/Favianna Rodgriguez, 2008). A street artist, printmaker and poster maker and for over 15 years, MacPhee regularly exhibits around the world. He also helps run Justseeds.org, a radical art distribution cooperative. For 10 years he has curated the Celebrate People's History poster series, a collection of inexpensive educational posters focused on suppressed and little known histories of social justice movements. In addition, MacPhee curated Paper Politics, an exhibition of socially engaged printmaking that has traveled to Brooklyn, Chicago, Corpus Christi, Montreal and four other cities

Dia De Los Muertos Festival and Block Party
When: Saturday, November 1st, 9:00 pm til 1:00 am
Where: Starr Street in Downtown Corpus Christi, between Chaparral and Mesquite

Axis Tattoo is hosting a downtown Dia de los Muertos Festival! The block party will feature music, food, drinks, and a Dia De Los Muertos costume contest. Dia De Los Muertos novelties such as, sugar skulls, candies, flowers and calavera's will be available to purchase. Artists will be on hand selling artwork, masks, cards, t-shirts, jewelry and a variety of other hand-made wares. Other participating businesses include: (us) K Space Contemporary, Crawdaddy's Restaurant, and Flanagan's Bar. Please join us!

Paper Mache Mask Making
2 Day Workshop: Saturdays, Oct. 18 & Oct. 25, 10 am-12 noon

Cost: $25 non-members, $20 members (price includes both days)
All ages welcome.
Learn the secrets to creating custom paper mache' masks for Halloween and/or Dia De Los Muertos - or just to hang as decoration. This 2-day workshop will cover all the basics of designing, building, decorating and painting a fabulously original mask for parties, trick-or-treating, or decorating. Wear your new custom-made mask to the Dia de los Muertos Festival on November 1 sponsored by Axis Tattoo on Starr Street (downtown Corpus Christi)!
