
Arbol de la Vida- Youth Art Exhibition
October 3rd - November 14th
Each year, K Space Contemporary hosts a youth art exhibition in conjunction with the Dia de los Muertos Festival open to youth in grades 6-12. The theme for 2025 is "Arbor de la Vida" or "Tree of Life. The Tree of Life is a powerful symbol found in cultures around the world—representing creation, connection, ancestry, and the cycles of life. In Mexico, Árboles de la Vida are brightly colored clay sculptures that originated in central Mexico and are traditionally used to tell stories about spirituality, family, nature, and cultural identity. Over time, these trees have evolved to include a wide variety of themes.
There were over 190 submissions to the youth art exhibition this year representing the rich talent of the young Corpus Christi Art Community. Winners are as follows:
Best of Show: "Eternal Moon" by Adriana Reyes, Mary Carroll High School
Grades 6-8:
1st Place - "The Flower" by Yzabella Quiroga from Gregory-Portland Middle School.
2nd Place - "Honoring My Father" by Dylan Leal, Baker Middle School
Grades 9-10:
1st Place - "Barking up the Right Tree" by Nicolas Garcia, Gregory-Portland High School
2nd Place - "Purple Tree" by Adalee Luppino, Gregory-Portland High School
Grades 11-12:
1st Place: "Rooted" by Gloria Harris, Flour Bluff High School
2nd Place: "Chatter" by Keira Garcia, Gregory-Portland High School
