About the event

LINOCUT PAPALOTE WORKSHOP WITH EMILIO CEJA CASTILLO AND RACHEL MITCHELL PART 2

In this second session, we'll print and construct our own custom block-printed papalotes — kites inspired by the Oaxacan Día de los Muertos tradition of kite-flying and by Francisco Toledo's use of papalotes in his fine art and activist work.

Participants will print hand-carved linoleum blocks onto handmade papalotes, assemble them, and then take advantage of Corpus Christi's ideal flying conditions in a kite race.

Didn't make it to Part One? You can still jump in! Part One participants drew and carved their own blocks, and newcomers will choose from a selection of precut designs to print — no carving experience needed.

Drop off between 10:30 am and 11 am at the side door at 415d Starr St.
